DANCE INDIA DANCE is a dance reality show that has created a new culture
altogether in the country with 3 successful seasons on ZEE TV.
Winning or even
being considered for DID as it is called is a matter of honour for any aspiring
dancer. What I have liked most about the show is it has got non -dancers
interested in dancing :)
A lot of credit goes to the judges and Grandmaster Mithun Chakravorty. This time in DID 4 (season 4) we will get to see a set of new judges
-Mudassar Khan , Feroz Khan and Shruti Merchant. All three of them are from the
gen.next breed of bollywood choreographers with quite a few chart busters in
their kitty.
In an event organised by Indiblogger last week with Zee TV at the Oberoi's
Delhi, the new judges of the show were introduced to the audience. Mudassar and Feroz Khan
were the two present of the three judges. Both of them ensured that each and everyone present in the room
#danced it out. They danced to their hits too. Needless to say the audience was
floored !!
The Judges
Mudassar Khan - The young dancer has been busy teaching Salman Khan how to
dance it out. He has to his credit movies like Dabanng 2, Ready, Bodyguard and
the latest chart buster "part all night" from the movie Boss.He runs a dance school in Mumbai and has a troupe by the name of sharpstooerz
Feroz Khan -He was associated with Farah Khan for a long time as her assistant. He has
directed many ads and songs like Maa ka Ladla from Dostana and move your body from the movie Johnny Gaddar which were huge hits
Shruti Merchant-Comes from a family of Choregraphers. Her elder sister
Vaibhavi Merchant has already made her place in Bollywood. Following her
sister's footsteps she got into dancing finding her way to the top by choreographing Kajra re from the movie Bunty Aur Babli and Kudiya nu thug le from the movie Ladies vs Ricky Behl and won an award too for the latter.
A new concept #danceitout
Other than introducing new judges this time the concept DID has picked up is
very interesting, which is dancing for a cause. Now isn’t that cool as dance is
a way to express yourself freely and just be yourself. If you do it for a
cause dear to you imagine the level you can take it up to and the connect you
would have with your audience. I think it is an innovative way of creating
awareness and making way into billions of hearts through dance.
My Cause
I would like to see them dancing out for a cause dear to my heart-Senior
Citizens.I think in todays fast paced society they feel neglected and left out. We
treat them more as a liability. Whereas the truth is they quietly contribute a
lot to keep things going for us. As a country too, we lack in giving them
opportunities not just with social security and benefits but also alternatives
with career, lifestyle, perusing hobbies and so on. With knowledge and
experience combined, they are our treasure. We need them to give the youth a
direction. The youth may have the all the energy and excitement to go forward
but we need our past to tell us the pros and cons for us to decide and make our
own way.

Fashion Meter
Though this was all about dancing however me being a fashion ...observer (for lack of a better word) have
to mention about the fashion quotient at the event. Both Mudassar and Feroz Khan have
their own individual personalities and with the success both of them have had they had no
airs about being celebrities. They mingled well with everyone and were paitent
enough to pose with the same poses over and over again with strange
people..oops fans!! I really appreciated their modesty for this.
However, they left much to be desired for with their choice of dressing for
the event. Velvet was the chosen fabric both for Mudassar and Feroz, which I
honestly would say was a let down. Both have such strong elements in their personalities
that could have been worked out and paid attention to bring out the real them –"the dancers" or Masters
of Dance.
